The intent of the design solution for this residence in Glastonbury, Connecticut was to reorganize and expand an existing home to accommodate the client’s change in lifestyle, entertaining, grown children and an expanding collection of art and antiques. The family felt the home was compressed and dark, and expressed their desire to increase the relationship of outdoor views and light to create a feeling of openness. Their preference was for a romantic, rambling cottage image. Traditional forms, accentuated by details and materials were utilized and were arranged in a light, and at times playful, way.
