The Owner’s intent was to provide a family living area adjacent to the kitchen which would increase entertaining space, relate to the outside, and provide additional display space for paintings and sculptures. They also desired a more gracious entrance.

To address these issues, Du Bose Associates replaced the existing garage, a 1950’s addition, with a family room wing adjacent to the kitchen, featuring a screened porch with a view to the woods. The result is a flowing, integrated entertaining and family livingspace, a formalized entry sequence, and an enhanced relationship between interior and exterior .
