This renovation of a significant indoor public space will help Hartford reach its potential as a vibrant center of art, commerce, sport, government, entertainment and finance. The four-story atrium, extending from Pearl Street to Asylum Street, is completely devoted to pedestrian use. As grand as the central atrium of the Hartford Municipal Building and the court of the Morgan Wing of the Wadsworth Atheneum, the space functions as a public plaza and hosts visitors to the adjacent Goodwin Hotel and offices, not to mention creating a dramatic event space.
