Firm Profile

Established originally in New York, the firm opened its Hartford office in 1958. The office of Charles Du Bose, Architect immediately influenced the early urban development of Hartford with the master plan and design for Constitution Plaza and significant architectural work for the Connecticut business community. At the same time, design associations in Europe were established, resulting in other planning projects. In 1974, the firm became Du Bose Associates, Inc., continuing to focus the firm's future toward quality, creativity and project diversity.

For four decades, Du Bose Associates has continued to build its professional practice offering a broad range of services in architecture, planning, interior design, space planning and environmental graphics. From the original emphasis on quality, creativity and diversity, the firm has successfully continued to identify creative opportunities within each project and problem-solving effort

The staff of design professionals includes licensed architects and interior designers and specialists in programming, computer-aided design, specifications and code compliance. Our main facility is located in a historic mansion at 49 Woodland Street. A branch office is located in Westerly, RI.

In early 1992 the firms of Du Bose Associates in Hartford and the Office of Max O. Urbahn in Mystic, CT merged. Mr. Urbahn's office added a vast depth of experience to the Du Bose team especially in the areas of planning and higher education. Mr. Urbahn chaired the Architectural Review Panel for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey which put him in the forefront of current planning concepts. This experience combined with Du Bose Associates, created a formidable team with a substantial depth of experience and resources.
