URI Freshman Residential Village |

Kingston, Rhode Island |
The design of the “Freshman Village” at the University of Rhode Island infuses a group of barrack-like existing residential structures with significant architectural character and organizes them through the development of formal and informal outdoor spaces into a special precinct within the campus fabric that serves as a cohesive and exciting element supporting the lifestyle of URI Freshmen. Architectural interventions invigorate the otherwise bland existing structures and provide new entrances, elevator service at every floor, staff office space and study lounges. Articulation and definition of outdoor spaces between the buildings create an exciting Freshman Residential Village.
